Overview: Iraq has acceded to the TIR Convention as its 78th Contracting Party on 27 March 2023, with the Convention entering into force in Iraq on 27 September 2023. To fully operationalize the TIR System in Iraq, several steps need to be taken by the competent authorities, including authorizing an association, customs offices, TIR Carnet holders, and vehicles, as well as training personnel and introducing supportive national legislation.
