UN Open Source Portal and eTIR National Application

The United Nations has launched the UN Open Source Portal, a new platform that brings together open‑source initiatives across the UN system. The portal is designed to strengthen collaboration, transparency, and reuse of digital solutions by centralizing projects and making them more accessible to Member States and the global open‑source community.
As an early contributor to this vision, UNECE has already released of the eTIR National Application as an open‑source project. Published several months ago, this reference implementation provides Contracting Parties to the TIR Convention with access to the full source code, documentation, and tools needed to integrate their national systems with the eTIR International System.
Making the application open source has already enabled administrations to explore the codebase, adapt it to national requirements, and engage with UNECE on further improvements.
With the launch of the UN Open Source Portal, the eTIR National Application now forms part of a larger ecosystem of UN digital public goods. Together, these initiatives support greater interoperability, more efficient digital services, and stronger collaboration across borders.
