Successful Installation of the eTIR National Application in Tajikistan and Progress Towards Cross-Border eTIR Transport

Dushanbe - Tajikistan, 16-18 March 2026

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is pleased to announce the successful installation and deployment of the eTIR National Application (NA) in Tajikistan. The technical workshop supporting this achievement was co-organized by UNECE and the State Customs Service of Tajikistan, with the support of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and the National Association of Road Transport Operators of Tajikistan (ABBAT).

This milestone represents a significant step forward in the country’s efforts to digitalize transit procedures and to enhance the efficiency, security, and transparency of international road transport operations.

The implementation of the eTIR procedure in Tajikistan enables the digital exchange of TIR data, reducing administrative burdens and facilitating faster border crossings. The system is now fully operational and ready for use by Tajik Customs, following comprehensive installation and training activities conducted with national stakeholders.

With the eTIR (NA) now in place, Tajikistan is well-positioned to initiate TIR transports using eTIR procedure with neighboring countries. Discussions are underway to launch the first eTIR transports, with Uzbekistan and other countries in the region, paving the way for digital and seamless transit corridors.

UNECE will continue to support Tajikistan and its partners in ensuring the effective use of the system and the successful implementation of the eTIR procedure. This progress reflects the shared commitment of all stakeholders to modernize transit systems and promote sustainable and efficient international transport.
