eTIR specifications

The currently approved versions of the eTIR specifications are v4.2 and can be found on this page.

The eTIR specifications are the result of the work of the following bodies:

  • The Informal Ad hoc Expert Group on Conceptual and Technical Aspects of Computerization of the TIR Procedure (GE.1), a group of experts mandated by the Working Party on Customs Questions affecting Transport (WP.30) to elaborate the eTIR concepts as well as the functional and technical eTIR specifications. Its last session was held in Geneva on 10-11 March 2020;
  • The Expert Group on Conceptual and Technical Aspects of Computerization of the TIR Procedure (WP.30/GE.1), which is the transformation of GE.1 as a formal Group of Experts which brings the following advantages: translation of its documentation in the three official languages of ECE (English, French and Russian) and interpretation of its sessions in the same languages. The mandate of this group is to finalize the eTIR specifications v4.3.

The next and last session of WP.30/GE.1 is scheduled on 13-15 September 2021. All documents pertaining to the sessions of GE.1 and WP.30/GE.1 can be found on the following page. In addition, several contracting parties to the TIR Convention have also nominated eTIR focal point which list can be found on this page.
